The Best Things to Consume as Sweeteners

Healthiest Sweeteners:

#1: Whole Foods which include natural sugars. (You must consume the foods whole, not extract sweetners from whole foods!)

#2: Natural Maple Syrup or Natural Maple Sugar (http://www.maplesource.com/Syrup/?gclid=CIuJnsT4iaQCFZQz5wodNzj-JQ)

#3: Stevia (http://www.puritan.com/stevia-380?afid=27&safid=Google&scid=13315&cm_guid=1-_-100000000000000067487-_-5800305511&cm_mmc=Google-_-Herb_Stevia-_-purchase%20stevia-_-Exact+Ad_5800305511&gclid=CKWC_dr4iaQCFcHY5wodHCs_Gw)

#4: Honey

The best things to consume as sweeteners are Maple Sugar/ Natural Maple Syrup [This causes no headache, no hangover, leaves you with no addictive craving, and no health issues (“The Kind Diet,” Alicia Silverstone)], or the natural sugars you can eat while eating whole fruits, whole vegetables and whole grains.

The only negative mention I found on natural maple syrup is this: Living on “The Maple Syrup Diet,” a new trendy diet for weight loss, has ill effects. The diet consists of consuming only 8 to 10 glasses of water, with bits of pure maple syrup, lemon juice and cayenne pepper, per day for 10 days). Not surprisingly, drinking only this flavored water for 10 days will make you unhealthy, weak, and will sometimes even make you GAIN weight http://www.squidoo.com/maplesyrupdiet).

Stevia: Stevia has been used in Japan and South America for 400 years with no negative effects known. It is now FDA approved. Negative effects: People with bowel disorders should not use it. A high dose will cause infertility in males, according to study on rats. A woman reported that since starting on Stevia (and not before), during workouts and throughout the day, she has periods of weakness and imbalance, and trouble remembering things (http://www.zhion.com/herb/STEVIA_side_effects.html)

Honey: Honey is bad for babies under 1 due to the bacteria inside it. Older than 1, your body can fight the bacteria. Honey also gives you a high and makes you crash. Honey has anti-cancer and anti-tumor properties, many nutrients (http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=96#healthbenefits), and helps the immune system (“Guide to Nutritional Healing”). Honey is taken from bees, and therefore, many insect-rights activists and strict vegans do not consume it (Silverstone).

SUGAR: http://www.organicnutrition.co.uk/articles/is-sugar-bad-for-you.htm

I add these. In my “Guide to Nutritional Healing” book, it says sugar helps hold the toxins in your body once they get there. Also, sugar has a high and a crash to give to your energy levels. You go up really high in energy, and there is a SUDDEN crash down to weakness, shakiness, and a need or craving for more (ie-addictive).

High Fructose Corn Syrup (http://www.greattastenopain.com/nl/10/04_06/051110.asp)

Cane Sugar, Cane Juice, Milled Cane, Sucanat, Florida Crystals, Turbinado Muscovado, Rapadura Sugars (all same, different names): Has nearly the same effects as sugar. The only difference is it is “less processed” (Silverstone). Does that mean anything to YOU? Not to me!

Artificial Sweetners:

Saccharin (Sweet ‘n Low): Neurological damage, bladder cancer (Silverstone)

Aspartame (NutraSweet): Neurological damage, bladder cancer (Silverstone), tumors, seizures, brain holes, death (http://www.NaturalNews.com/027758_aspartame_kidney_failure.html)

Sucralose (Splenda): This is chlorinated sugar (Silverstone). Tests for approval by FDA initially failed because of its harmfulness. Then they tested with lower and lower levels until it passed (http://www.NaturalNews.com/027758_aspartame_kidney_failure.html). Sucralose should only be consumed in extremely small amounts, and not very often!
