Best of Ogden 2012 Award a Scam

It is my opinion that the Best of Ogden 2012 Award is a scam. It is a way to get money from foolish business owners. If you have received a notificaton that you received it, please see it as the scam that it is.

These are the obvious signs:

1) Do awards cost money? Really? I don’t think so. Genuine awards should not cost you money (especially $80 for a plaque)!

2) You would think they’d send a Press Release “For Immediate Release” to the Ogden Newspaper, the Standard-Examiner. There has been nothing published there about it. See http://www.Standard.net.

3) Upon a phone call, they want me to enter in my code first. This is because they cannot risk you asking a human, “Who won the award for the category____?” because they send the award to all of the businesses in that category. Whoever pays the money, actually “wins,” which is why not all categories are even on their web site yet. The only ones there are likely the businesses which paid the money.

Here is the content of my E-mail. I am sure yours is the same.

“Earlier this year, I sent a notification email to you recognizing that Lisa Jackson Design has been selected for the 2012 Best of Ogden Awards in the Advertising Agencies category by the Ogden Award Program committee.
